“Tech day” is a celebration of the outstanding passouts of PSG Tech in various fields. It is the day where the envisaged dreams of determined minds materialize. It is a day that inspires the rest of the student population to bag those awards during their turn.
On March 13, at around 3.00 pm, despite the fact that it was pouring outside, the F-Block assembly hall was abound with students, staffs and parents. The mass had gathered to witness the dreams of their fellow-students attain fruition. The function began with the Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu followed by a short welcome note by Ms.R.Sruthi (Co-Chairperson of Students Union). Mr.R.Sakthi Narayanan (Chairperson of Students Union) then presented the Students Activities Report. Dr.R.Rudramoorthy (Principal) rendered the Tech day 2018 report and the presidential address. He listed the ranks of PSG Tech in various ranking levels and also added that we are working on to reach higher ranks. Here is the list of PSG’s ranking as cited by him:

Following him, Dr.V.Balusamy (Associate professor, Metallurgical Engineering department) introduced the chief guest to the audience. The chief guest, Dr.Arun Kumar Bhaduri (Director, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam) began his speech by listing some of the PSG alumni associated with IGCAR and pointed out some of the constraints related with R&D. “Research is not as simple as one and one makes two. You’ll have to work synergically to make one and one eleven”, he said. He took the rest of his speech in explaining how important nuclear energy is over the other non-renewables and gave a precise description of the process involved in nuclear power production. While concluding, he wanted the students to clarify the prevailing misconception in people’s minds that nuclear energy devastates people’s health and welfare and called them to aspiringly work on nuclear power.
The most awaited part of the day, the awarding session then began. Dr.K.Natarajan (Dean of Student Affairs) proceeded with the announcement of various awards for the office bearers followed by students and the announcement of scholarships, as the awardees gracefully accepted them as medals, trophies and cash from the chief guest. Their friends and parents were curiously snapping pictures of their fellows being awarded while the student community provided persistent applause. The Principal then took to the stage to read out the varied achievements of the KOORATHALWAR awardee without revealing her name, and the crowd began making high-pitched guesses. When he fimally disclosed “..and the winner of the Koorathalwar award for the year 2018 is Ms.S.Gayathri (B.E. Robotics and Automation Engineering 2014-2018)”, the gathering burst into thunderous applause. She, along with her proud parents, gained the stage to receive the most prestigious award of PSG Tech.
After Mr.M.Ajith Kumar, Secretary of Students Union addressed the vote of thanks, the event came to an end with the audience rising to the National Anthem. The crowd dispersed with seeded dreams sowed by the inspiring awardees to become one like them.
