Our story…
Back in the year 2014, a group of five students came up with the idea of launching a student press in the institution. With support from the institution and under the mentorship of Dr. K. Suresh Kumar (Executive Director, PSG STEP), they began putting together a team. What you see today is the fruit of their collaborative efforts.
Who are we?
Founded on August 15, 2014, THE BRIDGE is the official news body of PSG College of Technology. Named after the iconic structure of PSG Tech, we intend to be the “bridge” that connects the institution to the outside world. We try our best to empower the student community by being their voice, by encouraging writing and other forms of expression and by providing them a form of social presence.
What do we do?
We report on the activities in and around the institution and record experiences of all stakeholders - the students, the alumni and the faculty members. But that’s not the end of it! We also feature any form of creative work- photographs, poetry, comic strips, book and movie recos and reviews, opinion/ discussion pieces on engineering, technology, business and current affairs - you name it- in both English and Tamizh. We publish articles on this website once in a week.
Our presence is mostly online, on this website and on social media- Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram. We try to curate platform-based content (like the People of PSG series) for best engagement of our readers. Since the year 2019, we have also ventured into the offline space by releasing seasonal paperback issues. Who doesn’t like to save a nice newsletter, after all! We also conduct promotional events and workshops on the campus for our readers.
How do we do this?
The whole content generation process - right from ideating, writing, editing, publishing and publicity is managed by a self-sufficient team of students, with the support of few faculty members. We function as a structured team with Executive Editors, Managing Editors, Correspondents, Photojournalists, Editors, Illustrators, Cartoonists and Web Developers.
Can only members of Team Bridge write for the magazine?
