THE DISCIPLINED ENGINEERS: ½ Engineer’s Platoon

‘Fitness, Social responsibility, Technical awareness, Discipline, Team building’ – a converging platform which inculcates all these qualities is the NCC (National Cadet Corps). Here is an insight into one of the wings of the NCC – ½ Engineer’s Platoon.
Mr. Venkatesh (ECE, 2014-18), Cadet under Officer of the ½ Engineer’s Platoon-Technical NCC shares his experiences. “Being a part in organizing the team has brought in the ability of better conveyance of matters in me”, he says.
The National Integration Camp was attended by 5 cadets from PSG CT, 6 from PSG CAS and 5 from BIT. These cadets represented Tamil Nadu in the camp at Mumbai, where they emerged as the overall champions and marked the goodness of Tamilian sporting. A straight pavement was laid to the overall championship award when they secured 1st place in cultural events and volley ball and 2nd place in kho-kho.
The CUO of the ½ Engineer’s Platoon, Mr. Venkatesh says that the NCC cadets will have a right direction in taking up the UPSC and the TNPSC exams. Last year, 21 cadets secured ‘A’ grade in B certificate examination, and 4 cadets secured ‘A’ grade in C certificate examination. Also, the Yoga day was attended by 50 cadets.
The ½ Engineer’s Platoon, as the name suggests, models the well-renowned technical symbols like Arjuna tank, PSLV 3 etc., as a team. They conduct drills, firing, camps and sports events. These activities enhance the organization and leadership qualities of the cadets. The cadets go for regular running and play volleyball in the mornings between 6 and 7 am. Drills are conducted in the evening sessions between 5:30 and 6:30 pm.
The CUO thanks Mr. Ramesh(BE-ECE), working at Oracle, Bangalore for initiating the wing’s development.
The 1st years, who are interested in being a part of the ½ Engineer’s Platoon- Technical NCC family, may follow up the recruitment process. The Senior Under Officer of the wing is Mr. Sudhakar, and the Cadet Under officer is Mr. Venkatesh.
MEGALA A (B.E. Mechanical, 2014-2018) is a person who goes deep into thinking and reasoning and relishes skepticism. Gaming and surfing are her hobbies. She feels that riddles always free her off from boredom.
